SWV NOW WILL BE HOSTING A TABLE AT THE TAKE BACK THE NIGHT RALLY, MARCH AND SPEAK OUT.AT THE UO WOMEN'S CENTER ON THURSDAY, APRIL 25TH FROM 6 PM - 10:30 PM. STOP BY AND SAY HI WHILE YOU ATTEND THIS IMPORTANT EVENT.

TAKE BACK THE NIGHT IS A YEARLY INTERNATIONAL PROTEST FOUNDED IN 1976 WHICH SEEKS TO RAISE THE AWARENESS ABOUT THE REALITIES OF SEXUAL AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ON CAMPUS AND IN THE COMMUNITY, BOTH FOR SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THOSE WHO WANT TO BEAR WITNESS IN SOLIDARITY.

TAKE BACK THE NIGH IS A SURVIVOR-CENTERED EVENT THAT BEGINS WITH A RALLY IN THE EMU AMPHITHEATER AT 6 PM, CONTINUES AT 7 PM AS A MARCH THROUGH THE STREETS OF EUGENE TO SYMBOLIZE RECLAIMING PEOPLE'S SAFETY ON PUBLIC STREETS AT NIGHT, AND ENDS WITH A SPEAK OUT AT 8:30 PM IN THE COMMUNITY DURING WHICH SURVIVORS CAN SHARE PERSONAL STORIES OF HOW SEXUAL AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HAS IMPACTED THEIR LIVES.

THIS YEAR MARKS 41 YEARS OF TBTN IN LANE COUNTY. THE RALLY WILL FEATURE SPEAKERS FROM UO STUDENT GROUPS: BLACK STUDENT UNION, NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENT UNION, MUXERES, AS WELL AS SPEAKERS REPRESENTING THE LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY AND NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENT COMMUNITY, PLANNED PARENTHOOD, REVOLUTION YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM AND A KEYNOTE BY DISABILITY JUSTICE ACTIVIST LYDIA X.Z. BROWN!

OUR THEME FOR THIS YEAR'S EVENT IS CENTERING DISABILITY JUSTICE AND THE DISABLED COMMUNITY AS WELL AS OTHER MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES TOO OFTEN LEFT OUT OF ESSENTIAL DIALOGUE ABOUT SEXUAL AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

PEOPLE UNITE! TAKE BACK THE NIGHT!
